EXPERTISE

CARDIAC COMPLAINTS

Complaints such as chest pain, palpitations, fainting, murmur or blue spells could suggest an underlying heart condition but that may not always the case.

DIAGNOSTIC EXPERTISE

ECG and echocardiography are very valuable in providing a quick diagnosis.  Other  tests such as heart rhythm monitoring and  catheterisation may be necessary.

"HOLE IN THE HEART" DEFECTS

Most common defects are atrial or ventricular septal defects, and patent ductus arteriosus diagnosed with echocardiography, and treated by catheterization or surgery.

KEY HOLE PROCEDURES

Key hole procedures are used to open severely narrowed valves or blood vessels, close holes in the heart, and replace or implant heart valves with catheters rather than open heart surgery.

HEART VALVE DISORDERS

Narrow heart valves (aortic valve stenosis, pulmonary valve stenosis) increase work load on the heart. Treatment with cardiac catheterization is effective in most cases.

CARDIAC SCREENING

Cardiac screening is looking for cardiac conditions in children who do not have any symptoms or complaints suggesting a heart condition.

COMPLEX HEART DISORDERS

Tetralogy of Fallot or coarctation of aorta are complex heart conditions with a combination of defects. They often need more than one procedures and life-long follow up.

ACQUIRED HEART DISORDERS

Diseases of the heart that are not present at birth and are caused by infection or inflammation either of the heart or following infection in any other organs of the body.
